Russian air defence forces intercepted around thirty drones flying from Ukraine over the Bryansk and Kursk regions between late Friday and early Saturday, Russian authorities said.
Initially, the Russian Defense Ministry reported via Telegram that “twenty-one unmanned aerial vehicles were destroyed and intercepted” between 9:00 p.m. and 11:40 p.m. (local time) on Friday, as part of “an attempt by the Kiev regime to carry out terrorist attacks using aircraft-type unmanned aerial vehicles.”
Shortly after, the acting governor of Kursk, Alexei Smirnov, announced via the same platform that another six Ukrainian drones had been “shot down in the sky over the Kursk region.”
“On a very difficult night, the missile alert was announced again. Our air defence guys continue to protect us,” Smirnov said, reminding citizens “not to approach or touch the remains of missiles, unmanned aerial vehicles, as they can cause damage.”
