MADRID Dec. 28 () –
The air defense forces of the Russian Army have intercepted around 60 drones of the Ukrainian Armed Forces over different regions of the country during the early hours of this Saturday, most of them in Voronezh and Rostov, Russian authorities have reported.
“During last night, service air defense systems destroyed 56 Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles,” the Russian Ministry of Defense announced in a message broadcast through its official Telegram channel.
In the same publication, the Russian Government has specified that 28 of these drones have been destroyed in the Voronezh region, 17 more in Rostov territory and another eleven in Belgorod.
These attacks occurred after the Russian Army launched a new wave of attacks in eastern Ukraine this Thursday, leaving dozens injured and one dead in places such as Kharkiv, Nikopol, Sumi, and Kherson, and in the midst of the attacks against energy infrastructures that have left large parts of the country without heat or water when temperatures below 20 degrees Celsius are expected this winter.
The war in Ukraine broke out almost three years ago, when at the end of February 2022 the Russian president, Vladimir Putin, gave the order to militarily invade his neighboring country. Since then the conflict has progressed without apparent continuity and with the battle front lines stagnant.
