The chairman of the Russian State Duma Committee on International Affairs, Leonid Slutsky, reported this Saturday that his country is going to help Cuba solve serious problems and specifically the lack of fuel and grain supplies.
Slutsky is part of the delegation currently in Cuba, headed by the Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, Viacheslav Volodin.
“We are willing to provide Cuba and the entire world with higher education services so that future presidents, prime ministers, heads of state corporations, who will make up the highest political and business elite of their countries, leave and return to their countries” has explained Slutsky in statements to the media collected by the Russian agency Interfax.
“As for fuel and grain, what the republic needs today, we will not abandon it,” he added.
On Saturday morning, the president of the National Assembly of Popular Power and the Council of State of Cuba, Esteban Lazo Hernández, in a meeting with Volodin, thanked Russia for the transfer of 25,000 tons of wheat to the country.
“You can imagine how much we appreciate the recent transfer of a humanitarian shipment: 25,000 tons of wheat in March of this year,” Hernandez said.
He also conveyed his gratitude to the Government and people of the Russian Federation, the State Duma and the Federation Council.
