Jul 1 (EUROPA PRESS) –
Russia’s permanent representative to the United Nations, Vasily Nebenzia, warned Israeli authorities on Monday that a possible supply of Patriot air defense systems to the Ukrainian Armed Forces would entail “political consequences.”
“The weapons, regardless of who sends them to Ukraine, will eventually be destroyed, just like other weapons from the West and the United States,” Nebenzia said, responding to reports of possible shipments from Israel.
“Obviously, I think that this (Israel’s arms supply to Ukraine) may of course have certain political consequences,” the Russian representative to the UN added, according to information collected by the TASS news agency.
Nebenzia’s statements came on the same day that the Russian delegation assumed the rotating presidency of the United Nations Security Council for the next month.
The Patriot systems are one of the main demands of the Ukrainian Armed Forces along with the battle tanks, already supplied by the West in large quantities; and fighters, which kyiv’s partners are more reluctant to supply.
