The Zaporizhia nuclear plant (ZNPP), in the south of Ukraine and considered the largest in Europe, has been completely without power after the Russian bombing on Wednesday damaged the only two high-voltage power lines that connected the plant to the Ukrainian power grid.

Energoatom, the state operator of nuclear power plants in Ukraine, today reported on its Telegram account the electrical disconnection of the plant, located on Ukrainian territory but currently under Russian military control.

“Yesterday, November 2, 2022, the two remaining high-voltage power lines connecting the plant Zaporizhia nuclear power plant with Ukraine’s power grid were damaged as a result of the Russian bombardment. The plant lost power at 23:04 (local time),” the company explained.

The Ukrainian Armed Forces have accelerated their counteroffensive to try to expel Russian troops from their territory, especially in Kherson. Tensions have escalated in the region.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation, Jose Manuel Albares has reiterated this Wednesday the support at all levels of Spain to Ukraine after having visited areas bombed by Russia both in kyiv and in the town of Makariv, located 50 kilometers from the capital, while promising to contribute to reconstruction.
