The Kremlin warns that this possible shipment of arms would involve Seoul’s participation in the conflict in Ukraine

The former Russian president and current vice president of the country’s Security Council, Dimitri Medvedev, has threatened on Wednesday to supply weapons to his “partners” in North Korea if South Korea’s neighbors support the Armed Forces of Ukraine with arms.
According to Medvedev, the South Korean president, Yoon Suk Yeol, has stated that Seoul “is ready to supply the Kiev regime with weapons”, giving a radical turn to his previous statements that war support for Ukraine “was completely ruled out”.
“I wonder what the people of this country (South Korea) will say when they see the latest samples of Russian weapons from their closest neighbors, our partners in North Korea,” the former Russian president said on his official channel on the social network. Telegram, where he has stressed that this maneuver would be a ‘quid pro quo’.
On the other hand, the Kremlin spokesman, Dimitri Peskov, has warned South Korea that the supply of weapons to Ukraine would imply “a certain degree of involvement” in the war, with which the Asian nation “indirectly” would be “participating in the conflict.”
“There is nothing radically new in this. And in terms of sanctions and so on, to our regret, Seoul has taken quite hostile positions throughout this story. This is a continuation,” Peskov told the media, according to the Russian news agency TASS.
This same Wednesday, the South Korean opposition has asked President Yoon to “avoid making enemies” in reference precisely to this possible arms assistance to Ukraine in the framework of the invasion of Russia and they have stressed that this decision would be “contrary to the national interests of South Korea”.
President Yoon has recently acknowledged that the Asian country does not rule out supplying weapons to Ukraine if there is a “real danger to its population.”
