Russia takes the Ukrainian city of Makiivka, in Lugansk

September 29 () –

The Russian Armed Forces have conquered the Ukrainian city of Makiivka, located in the Lugansk region, in the east of the country and the scene of the main clashes in a war that has now been going on for more than two and a half years.

As reported by the Russian Ministry of Defense, the Western group of troops has completed “successful offensive operations” in Makiivka against Ukrainian units in the area, where kyiv’s control is increasingly less.

In February 2022, Russia began a territorial offensive against its neighboring country, Ukraine, beginning a war that advances without apparent continuity and in which both parties exchange blows although Moscow appears to establish positions in the Donbas.
