13 Apr. (EUROPE PRESS) –
The pro-Russian authorities of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic (RPD) have affirmed this Thursday that the Ukrainian troops are “encircled” in areas of the town of Bakhmut, one of the main fronts of the conflict, and have indicated that they do not have possibility of backtracking in the immediate vicinity.
The governor of Donetsk, Jan Gagin, has thus indicated that the Russian troops are reaping advances and that “the enemy has already had to withdraw to the outskirts of the city”, where strong clashes are now taking place. “Units are now blocked there or almost completely blocked,” he said.
In this sense, he has pointed out that a withdrawal of the Ukrainian forces is “impossible” right now since the surrounding roads are “under the control of the Russian forces” and therefore they can be the target of artillery fire, according to information from the channel news station Rossiya 24.
Likewise, the pro-Russian authorities have stated that the attempts of the Ukrainian Army to deliver food and ammunition to their units “are not having an effect” despite the fact that they are carried out regularly.
However, he has pointed out that there is a wide possibility that the counterattack that Ukraine is preparing “will fail” due to the low number of reserves and the lack of equipment.
