Russia says the US "is obliged to compensate all countries" for the coronavirus pandemic

July 6. () –

The president of the Russian State Duma, Viacheslav Volodin, affirmed this Wednesday that the United States “is obliged to compensate all the countries affected by the (coronavirus) pandemic for the losses suffered”, while calling for “stopping and declassify” Washington’s biological military research papers.

Volodin has indicated in his Telegram account that “an American scientist, head of the commission on COVID-19, has accused the United States of spreading the coronavirus pandemic”, before lamenting that the American president, Joe Biden, “remains silent”.

“He is afraid that the world will know the truth about the real culprit of the pandemic. Millions of sick and dead, a global economic crisis, a drop in people’s living standards as a result of COVID-19, for which Washington must be held accountable,” he concluded.

Volodin has thus made reference to recent statements by the economist Jeffrey Sachs, who chairs the COVID-19 commission in the journal ‘The Lancet’, in which he stated that he was “quite convinced” that the virus “came out of a biotechnology laboratory ” American.

“It is a blunder, in my opinion, of biotechnology, not a natural spillover. We don’t know for sure, I must be absolutely clear, but there is enough evidence that it should be investigated and it is not being investigated, not even in the United States. or anywhere,” he said.

In her statements, Sachs also stressed that there are “real reasons” for not wanting to investigate the origin of the virus and lamented the war in Ukraine, which, in her opinion, “could have been avoided.” “It would have been avoided if the United States had not been so insistent on pushing NATO east,” he concluded.
