The Russian Ministry of Defense has clarified that it does not plan to request the repatriation of citizens who are in other countries, thus ruling out the potential deportation of Russians who have arrived by the thousands in recent days to neighboring countries.
Moscow has stated that, despite the “partial mobilization” decreed last week by President Vladimir Putin, a “forced” return of men who are not in Russian territory will not be promoted. Thus, he has stated that he will not launch any appeal to neighboring countries such as Kazakhstan and Georgia, according to the Interfax agency.
The Kazakh authorities estimate that some 100,000 Russians have crossed the border since the announcement of the mobilization, within the framework of a rebound in arrivals that has also been noted in other countries such as Georgia or Finland. The Kremlin has stated this Thursday that it does not have the data on how many people have left Russia since September 21.
