Russia launches massive new attack on Ukraine's energy system on the eve of winter

The Minister of Energy of Ukraine, Herman Galushchenko reported this Friday that the Russian Army has carried out a new “massive attack” against the energy system of Ukraine in the middle of the cold wave in which it has used 93 missiles and about 200 drones.

“That is Putin’s ‘peace’ plan, to destroy everything. “This is how he wants to ‘negotiate’, terrorizing millions of people,” Zelensky wrote on his social networks, explaining that 81 of the missiles fired by Russia could have been shot down by the Ukrainian Army.

The head of the Ukrainian state added that Russia used in the attack cruise and ballistic missiles. 11 of the cruise missiles were intercepted by Western F-16 aircraft received by kyiv. The most affected regions are those of Lviv, Ternopil and Ivano-Frankivsk.

For his part, the Minister of Energy of Ukraine added that as soon as the situation allows, the damage suffered by Ukrainian energy infrastructure in this new attack will be established.

Since last March, Russia has launched more than 10 massive attacks against the Ukrainian energy system.

Numerous power plants and substations have been destroyed or damaged in these bombings, forcing Ukraine to introduce daily scheduled power cuts in the face of the resulting electricity deficit.

According to the private electricity company DTEK, one of its thermal power plants has been damaged.
