21 Apr. (EUROPE PRESS) –

The Russian Ministry of Justice included investigative journalist Christo Grozev on its ‘blacklist’ of foreign agents on Friday, hours after a Moscow court ordered his arrest in absentia.

Grozev, who runs the Bellingcat website, is accused of distributing “misinformation” about decisions made by public authorities, as well as creating content for other people considered foreign agents and a non-governmental organization considered illegal in Russia.

Before, the Court of Lefortovo in Moscow ordered his detention in absentia for an alleged immigration offense for having crossed the Russian border illegally.

An ally of the imprisoned Alexei Navalni, Grozev reported on the alleged involvement of the Kremlin in the poisoning of him, as well as of the former spy Sergei Skripal. He now resides in the United States, after fear of being targeted by Russian agents caused him to leave Austria, where he has lived for the past 20 years.

In addition to Grozev, the Ministry of Justice has included on its ‘black list’ of foreign agents the journalist Natalia Sevets-Yermolina, the civil activist Elvira Vijareva, as well as the Human Rights group School of the Conscript and the Lawyer journalistic project Street.
