Moscow claims to have shot down another twelve drones launched by Ukraine against its territory in the last few hours
Aug. 28 () –
Russian authorities on Wednesday imposed “temporary restrictions” on operations at two airports in the Kazan and Tatarstan regions, without providing details on the reasons for this decision.
The Federal Air Transport Agency of the Russian Federation has specified in a message on its Telegram account that “temporary restrictions have been imposed on operations at Kazan airport to ensure the safety of civil flights.”
“The airport is not accepting flights and no flights take off from it after 7:00 a.m. (local time),” he said, before stressing that “the crews, air traffic controllers and airport services are taking all necessary measures to ensure flight safety, which is the main priority.”
Just a few minutes later, the same “temporary restrictions” were confirmed to be in place at Nizhenakamsk Airport in Tatarstan, a measure that came into effect at 9:00 a.m. (local time), without further details.
The Russian Ministry of Defense has stressed that in the last few hours it has intercepted twelve drones launched by the Ukrainian Army against its territory, denouncing “an attempt by the Kiev regime to carry out terrorist attacks.”
“Twelve Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles have been destroyed by air defence systems,” he said on Telegram, noting that eight were shot down in the Voronezh region, while another four were intercepted in the Rostov region.
