The Russian authorities have questioned this Friday that Germany, Denmark and Sweden are investigating the attack perpetrated in September 2022 against the Nord Stream gas pipeline in the Baltic Sea and have warned that they are “in no rush” to resolve the matter.
The deputy representative of Russia to the UN, Dimitri Polianski, has asserted that “it is clear that these three countries do not want to move forward with their respective investigations at the national level” and has indicated that Moscow doubts, even, “that these investigations have been opened even”.
Likewise, the Russian diplomat has indicated that “Russia is not aware of what these countries are doing in this regard, which is unacceptable” and has pointed out that the Russian authorities continue to deny that Ukrainians are behind the explosions who would have acted ” in an independent way”. “This attack could only have been committed with the direct support of a state,” he said.
In this sense, he has emphasized that the versions of Russian authorship “are absurd” and has strongly rejected them. “The matter is not closed and we will continue to investigate it if the situation does not change”, he said before noting that the Germans and Scandinavians “seem to be in no hurry”.
“We can even talk about this being disrespectful to the Security Council,” he maintained, while clarifying that the United States and its allies “have not given convincing details to support their version.”
