Russia decrees martial law in the occupied territories in the Ukrainian region of Kharkov

The pro-Russian authorities established in the Kharkov region, in southern Ukraine, have decreed martial law this Friday in all the territories that they have managed to occupy since the beginning of the war, decreed at the end of February by order of the Russian president, Vladimir Putin.

As detailed by the press service of the aforementioned authorities, the decision corresponds to the idea of ​​”guaranteeing public order and state security”, as reported by the Russian news agency TASS.

Along with martial law, a curfew has also been established in Kharkov, with which the transit of citizens is prohibited in the entire region between 8:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m., Moscow time.


According to the head of the Kharkov Administration, Vitali Ganchev, about 20 percent of the Ukrainian region has already been taken by the Russian Army in the framework of the war, although the situation in these areas remains “tense”. .

In response to Russia’s operations, the Ukrainian Army is now carrying out airstrikes, although, according to Ganchev, there is no real risk of Ukrainian troops infiltrating the territories.
