The Russian authorities have claimed to have shot down on Monday two drones that broke into the airspace of the Crimean peninsula, annexed by Russia in 2014, without registering victims or material damage.
“During the night, in the north of Crimea, air defense systems have acted against two unmanned aircraft flying at low altitude,” Crimean Governor Sergei Aksenov said.
Thus, he has demanded from the population through a message published on his Telegram account that they “remain calm” and “rely only on trusted sources of information”, referring to official channels.
The Crimean peninsula, and especially Sevastopol, where a Russian Navy base is located, is a prominent target for Ukrainian forces, which are using drones and missiles to hit Russian targets.
