The Russian authorities have claimed to have repelled a drone attack on Sevastopol on the Crimean peninsula early Thursday morning.
The Governor of Crimea, Sergei Aksenov, reported this morning that the air defense forces have shot down six unmanned aerial vehicles in different regions of the peninsula.
Aksenov has indicated that “there are no victims or injuries”, for which he has asked the population “to remain calm and trust only reliable sources of information.”
Hours earlier, the mayor of Sevastopol, Mikhail Razvozhaev, has indicated that the Russian Navy has shot down two unmanned aerial vehicles that had small arms, while “several more drones” were attacked.
It has also added that “no facility in the city has been damaged,” while the authorities are “monitoring the situation.”
Sevastopol, and the Crimean peninsula in general, is a prominent target for Ukrainian forces, which use drones and missiles to hit Russian targets.
