April 15 () –

The Russian Armed Forces reported this Monday the death of some 60 Ukrainian soldiers and foreign mercenaries in an air attack on the city of Slaviansk, located in the north of the Ukrainian region of Donetsk.

As detailed by the Russian Aerospace Forces in a statement, among the foreign mercenaries were citizens of American, French and Georgian nationality, reports the TASS news agency.

For their part, among the Ukrainian fatalities are several “career officers”, including “high-ranking officers” of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Russia estimates that there could be a hundred Ukrainian fighters in the area.

Russian authorities have on several occasions denounced the presence of foreign fighters on the Ukrainian side. The last of these accusations was made in early January, when Moscow claimed that there were French mercenaries in Ukraine.
