Russian authorities said Sunday that the United States should use the money it sends to Ukraine to strengthen its internal security, following the attack on former President Donald Trump during a rally and kyiv’s admission of several attempts to assassinate President Vladimir Putin.
“Would it perhaps be better to use this money to fund the police and other services that should ensure law and order within the United States?” Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova asked in response to criticism from Bobby Kennedy, nephew of former President John F. Kennedy, about the “failure” of security agencies to protect Trump.
Zakharova also referred to recent statements by the head of Ukraine’s military intelligence, Kirilo Budanov, who has acknowledged that there have been several attempts to kill President Putin, and has claimed that these plans were hatched with American money.
Without such funding, he said, Ukraine’s intelligence security agencies would not be able to carry out such “harmful activities.”
“With massive funding and uncontrolled supply of weapons, Washington has created a terrorist structure in Ukraine – the Kiev regime. This is a machine for murder, explosions, destruction, terrorist attacks against both political figures and civilians,” Zakharova said.
Former US President Donald Trump was injured on Saturday during a pre-campaign rally in Pennsylvania, where he had to be evacuated with blood on his face after gunshots were heard. There were two deaths, including the shooter, who has already been identified.
