Aug. 24 () –

The Russian authorities have arrested two workers at the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant in Ukraine, after accusing them of providing information on personnel and vehicles at the facilities to the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

The Russian National Guard has said that, thanks to this operation, “illegal actions” have been dismantled that put the safety of the nuclear power plant, considered the largest in Europe, at risk, according to the TASS news agency.

One person has also been arrested for allegedly violating the security cordon, bringing the number of arrests to 26 since Russia took control of these strategic facilities in early March.

Despite these operations, the Russian authorities have clarified that the plant continues to operate normally and have defended that specialists from the National Guard check the radiation in the area several times a day to rule out possible risks.
