The Russian Ministry of Defense announced this Saturday the complete seizure of the city of Peski, in Donetsk, in eastern Ukraine.

“As a result of the offensive actions of the allied forces, the Peski territory of the (self-styled) Donetsk People’s Republic has been completely liberated,” Igor Konashenkov, a spokesman for the Russian Defense Ministry, told the Interfax agency.

For their part, the Ukrainian authorities have not confirmed the seizure of the city in the eastern region of the country. The General Staff of the Ukrainian Army has indicated this Saturday that Russia continues the offensive in cities of Donetsk that include the city of Peski.

“The Russians aim to break through the Ukrainian defense lines near Avdivka, Pesi, Marinka, Oleksandropil and Krasnohorivka,” according to statements reported by The Kyiv Independent.

According to the latest report issued by the Ukrainian Armed Forces, clashes continue in Peski.
