Russia and Iran criticize Pelosi's visit to Taiwan

Aug. 2 () –

Russia has described the visit of the president of the United States House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi, to Taiwan as “another provocative move” by the Biden Administration to pressure China, while Iran has charged against Washington and has indicated that said trip violates the territorial integrity of the Asian giant.

“Irresponsible American political temporary workers insult the 1.5 billion people of China. The United States is a provocative state,” said Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zajarova, as reported by the TASS news agency.

Thus, he has compared Pelosi’s visit with the official trip of the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Sergei Lavrov, to Burma. “Lavrov does not bring provocation, like Pelosi, but cooperation,” he has indicated in his official Telegram profile.

For his part, the spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Naser Kanani, condemned the situation on Tuesday and indicated at a press conference that it violates China’s territorial integrity and goes against the United Nations Charter, according to the mehr news agency.

“Iran regards respect for the territorial integrity of countries as one of the foundations of its foreign policy and supports the One China policy in this regard. The framework is unequivocal,” he explained, adding that “unilateralism and the violation of international laws and obligations have become a fixed procedure in the foreign policy” of Washington.
