From RTVE they have just broadcast a statement in which they state that they have urged the PP to withdraw the application for registration of the “Verano Azul” trademark and stop using it, as it is the property of Radiotelevisión Española.

The Corporation affirms that this Thursday it learned that the PP requested the registration of the trademark “VERANO AZUL PP” in the Spanish Patent and Trademark Office (OEPM) and understands that, with this request, the party “would be violating the provisions of he Article 6 of the Trademark Law 17/2001″, which prevents the registration of signs that are identical to prior trademarks or that may produce “a risk of confusion in the public”. In the note, RTVE warns that “it reserves the right to exercise the actions established in the current legislation” if the PP “does not meet this requirement”.
