MADRID 16 Oct. () –

The Government of Romania approved this Wednesday an ordinance regarding financing for the training of Ukrainian pilots in the handling of F-16 fighter aircraft, thus guaranteeing the continuity of this training as support to kyiv against the Russian invasion, which began in February 2022.

“By an emergency order and fulfilling a commitment assumed by Romania at the NATO summit in Vilnius, and subsequently endorsed by the Supreme Defense Council, the Government has approved the legal procedures and guarantee of the conditions for the training of the person Ukrainian,” said Executive spokesman Mihai Constantin.

The Ukrainian military will thus be able to continue with the training they receive at the 86th Fetesti Air Base, in the southeast of Romania, just 70 kilometers from the Black Sea, according to information collected by the Romanian newspaper ‘Gandul’.

The Ukrainian authorities confirmed just a month ago that a group of Ukrainian pilots are receiving training in Romania to improve their skills in handling F-16 fighter jets, one of kyiv’s main demands to repel Russian attacks in the framework of the war, which began at the end of February 2022.
