During a recent meeting with the Thai authorities in Bangkok, the head of Romania’s IT committee committed to collaborating with the Ministry of Economy and Digital Society (DES) on digital technologies and cybersecurity.
According to Newin Chochaiyathip, assistant to the DES minister, Sabin Sarmas, chairman of the Communications and Information Technologies Committee of the Romanian Chamber of Deputies, had the kind gesture.
Supot Tiarawut, Chairman and CEO of the Digital Government Development Agency, and a group of senior officials were also present at the meeting.
Sarmas, who was joined at the meeting by Bogdan Badea, Romania’s ambassador to Thailand, is the chair-designate of the 2022 ITU Plenipotentiary Conference, to be held in Bucharest.

Newin congratulated Romania for hosting the next ITU conference from September 26 to October 14, while informing the Romanian delegation that Thailand would send a delegation, led by the Permanent Undersecretary of the DES Ministry, Nattapon Nattasomboon, to the event.
The two sides also discussed cooperation in the transition to a digital government, collaboration in the development of digital services, digital identification and data sharing, as well as future campaigns on cybersecurity and personal data sharing.
