Unsurprisingly, Avengers fans won’t forget the actor who shaped the MCU since its inception: Robert Downey Jr. Unfortunately, Marvel has no plans for Iron Man’s return to the big screen.
He was only mentioned in the movie “Spider-Man: Far From Home” when Peter Parker was on a rooftop. The question falls ripe at this point in the UCM, could Marvel include a cameo from the actor?
Robert Downey Jr.’s joke on social networks
On April 1, the actor shared a hilarious message poking fun at the various rumors about him returning to the MCU. He shared an edit that emulated a web note announcing the following.
“Robert Downey Jr. will star opposite Robert Downey Jr. as Robert Downey Jr. in ‘Robert Downey Jr. the Robert Downey Jr. story’”.
Marvel producer Stephen Broussard told reporters that fans should not hope to see him once again on the big screen.
“I think one of the metanarratives of Phase Four was about new characters. It was about new people putting on the suits”, he declared. “After these first 10 years of Marvel storytelling, the torches are being passed, just like when Robert Downey Jr. was gone. [en la] table and stuff like that. So it was like a new generation stepping up which, again, has always happened in the comics.”, he added.
