In an effort to ensure a high turnout of overseas Indonesian citizens in the upcoming 2024 Indonesian general elections, the Indonesian Consulate and PPLN held the socialization of the general election in Karachi, on April 30, 2023 at the Marriot Hotel.
The session was attended by 160 eligible Indonesian citizens registered as candidate voters (DPS). Most of them are Indonesian women married to Pakistani citizens (mixed marriage). In addition, there are novice voters, that is, children of mixed marriages who have already turned 17, which allows them to exercise their right to vote. They attend the session accompanied by their spouses and family members.
Indonesian general election in 2024
The 2024 Indonesian general election will be an integrated election in which the candidates for President, Vice President and Members of Parliament (Legislative Assembly) for the period 2024-2029 will be elected simultaneously on February 14, 2024.
The session is part of efforts to ensure that voter turnout is high by ensuring that all eligible Indonesian citizens register with the SIDALIH system of the General Election Commission (KPU). The level of overseas voter turnout in the last Indonesian general election in 2019 remained high at 96% of total overseas Indonesian voters.
The upcoming general elections in Thailand are flawed at the root
In his opening speech, the Consul General of the Republic of Indonesia, Dr. June Kuncoro Hadiningrat, stressed that the general elections held every 5 years are an application of democracy in Indonesia, where Indonesians, wherever they are, can make use of their sovereign rights to choose and determine the quality of future national leaders. For the elections, the Committee and the Consulate collaborate to ensure that all Indonesian citizens living abroad can exercise their rights to participate in the elections respecting the principles of direct, public, free, confidential, honest and fair voting.

Meanwhile, Karachi PPLN Chairman Hidayat Zakaria deliberated on the PPLN’s roles and obligations in conducting and succeeding at all stages of the 2024 General Election, which will be conducted in a transparent manner.
Indonesian citizens in Sindh province welcomed this campaign with great enthusiasm as part of the electoral process to elect new Indonesian leaders for the next 5 years.
