Rita Cetina Scholarship for students in Mexico: requirements, amount, who and how to apply for it

Below, we give you all the details you need to know to apply for this scholarship.

The Rita Cetina Gutiérrez scholarship is government support that is aimed at all basic education students in Mexico.

The above means that any preschool, primary or secondary student from public schools in the country can request this support.

The scholarship has “the objective of financially supporting families to guarantee that students complete their studies,” OK with the Government of Mexico.

To apply for the scholarship, mothers, fathers or guardians must register students.

Remember: a record is made for each student; For example, if you have two children studying primary school in a public school, you must register for each one.

Registration for the scholarship will be open until the card delivery date (next January 20). Previously, registration ended on Wednesday, December 18 of this year, but, at a press conference, the Secretary of Education reported that the deadline would be extended.

“For localities in the country that lack internet access, national servers will go to schools to register in person starting November 11,” says the Government of Mexico.

What do I need to register the student? This says the Government of Mexico:

  • From the mother, father or guardian of the student: you need to upload an official identification, proof of address (both as a PDF file or image), CURP and birth certificate.
  • For students: birth certificate, CURP and proof of studies are required.

Regarding the official identification of the mother, father or guardian, the following are accepted: voter ID, passport, professional ID, Inapam credential, identity card.

For proof of address, you can provide proof of telephone, electricity, gas, water, property. In any case, the receipt must not be older than 6 months.

Regarding the student’s proof of studies, the following are accepted: transcript, credential, registration or re-registration form, report card.

What is the amount of the scholarship and when will the money be given?

Although the Rita Cetina Gutiérrez scholarship is for all basic education students, the first beneficiaries will be students in high school.

The delivery of resources will be gradual and will begin with the aforementioned high school students at the beginning of 2025.

“Scholarships for other levels will be enabled later,” points out the Government of Mexico.

This will be the amount that students will receive:

  • The scholarship will grant 1,900 pesos every two months to each family that has a child studying in secondary school.
  • If that family has more than one child in secondary school, an additional 700 pesos will be given for each child.
  • Example: if you have two children who are students in a public high school, you will receive 2,600 pesos every two months. If you have three children in secondary school, the scholarship will be 3,300 pesos every two months. And so on.
  • Therefore, it is important to emphasize that a record is needed for each student.
