() — Ringo Starr has spoken about the authenticity of the vocals on The Beatles’ highly anticipated new song, which was recently mentioned by his former bandmate, Paul McCartney.
Starr spoke with rolling stones for a podcast that is about to be launched, in which he assured that they would “never” fake the late John Lennon’s voice for the new song, although they do use artificial intelligence to clean up previously recorded fragments.
The song will also feature vocals from the late George Harrison, Starr confirmed.
“It was beautiful,” he said, noting that “it’s the last song you’ll ever hear with all four guys. And that’s a fact.”
Last month, McCartney had also tried to clarify how artificial intelligence was being used in what he said will be The Beatles’ “last” song.
“We saw some confusion and speculation about it,” he wrote in a note posted to his verified Instagram account at the time. “There seems to be a lot of conjecture going around.”
“I can’t say too much yet, but to be clear, nothing was created artificially or synthetically. Everything is real and we all play with it,” he added. “We cleaned up some existing recordings, through a process that has gone on for years.”
In a June 13 interview with the BBC Radio 4 “Today” showThe legendary musician, 81, said artificial intelligence was being used to release a “new” track featuring all four Beatles, including band members Lennon and Harrison, who died in 1980 and 2001 respectively.

“When we got to making what will be the last Beatles record—it was a demo that John had that we worked on and we just finished and it’s coming out this year—we were able to take John’s voice and get it pure through this AI. McCartney said. “Then we were able to mix the record like you normally would.”
Starr, meanwhile, is about to celebrate her 83rd birthday, which falls on July 7.
The music icon, who just finished a spring tour with his band All-Starr, told Rolling Stone he feels great: “You never know when you’re going to fall, that’s the thing,” he added. “But I’m not going down yet.”
