(Cnn in Spanish) — Ecopetrol’s board of directors reported this Wednesday through a statement that it chose Ricardo Roa Barragán as the entity’s new president.
The new president of Ecopetrol is a mechanical engineer from the National University of Colombia and a specialist in engineering management systems from the Javeriana University, with more than 30 years of experience, a leader in strategic transformations in companies in the energy sector.
Roa Barragán has held prominent positions such as the presidency of Grupo Energía de Bogotá SAESP, of Transportadora de Gas Internacional (TGI) and the general manager of Empresa Energía de Honduras EEH, the statement said.
Ricardo Roa Barragán will assume the position of president of Ecopetrol no later than April 30, 2023.
Ecopetrol currently has a base of 18,000 employees and produces 60% of Colombia’s hydrocarbons.
