Review: vivo X80 Pro 5G, a high-end for those looking for good photos

Design and first impressions of the vivo X80 Pro

The design of the X80 Pro is elegant and offers premium materials, even in the accessories, as the box includes wired headphones (with USB Type-C connector) and a protective case that fits very well with the aesthetic identity of the phone.

Although it looks great, it feels heavy, but it’s one of the few things I didn’t like. For the rest, it is powerful, aesthetic and works well. Inside, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 octa-core processor combined with a proprietary vivo processor, the V1+, and its 12GB of RAM (+4GB of virtual memory) make sure everything runs smoothly, while on the inside Outside, its 6.78″ AMOLED screen with 2K resolution makes the content look amazing.

The tests that the X80 Pro was subjected to made it shine in terms of speed and ease of use, in scenarios in which social media, GPS, exercise and audio and video content apps were used.

It is prepared for 5G networks (with space for two SIM cards) and WiFi 6, the fastest currently. I had no problem using wireless connections, such as bluetooth headsets -with great audio quality- or when sharing the Internet or projecting the screen via WiFi.

It even has an infrared sensor to act as a remote control. The only thing that managed to interrupt a good experience at first was its aggressiveness in closing apps that run in the background, such as exercise apps when you go for a run, but after changing the settings twice, it agreed to make the corresponding exception.

This smartphone includes a high-capacity battery that lasts up to two days with light use, and one full day with heavy use. Fast charging is a blast though, with the 80W charger included in the box taking just half an hour to fully charge.

It is also capable of charging wirelessly, at a maximum of 50W, and of providing reverse charging, for example, to charge another phone or wireless headphones.

It works with the usual Android options to unlock the phone (facial, fingerprint, etc.) but the fingerprint sensor, which is located on the screen, is very fast and effective. Speaking of Android, the version of the X80 Pro is the most recent, version 12, and it has its manufacturer customization layer, called Funtouch OS. Storage is 256GB with no expansion slot and no audio jack, but it does have dual speakers. The charging and data connector is USB-C.
