Cal, after the events of Fallen Order, has become a rebel and works hand in hand with Saw Guerrera to destabilize the empire, in constant missions but always longing for his old adventure companions with whom he traveled in the Mantis.
In one of his missions, Cal needs to find Greez -the former pilot of the Mantis in order to repair it-, and he lands in Koboh, a forgotten planet on the outer edge, where Cal will not only find Greez but also discover a new threat that looms. over the Galaxy since the days of the ancient Jedi order.
The entire plot takes a few hours of play to plan and the path that Respawn decided to take is quite interesting, bringing elements that we have always longed to see more of in the franchise, such as the times of the old order. We are definitely not facing the plot of the year, but the story complies, it is interesting and it grows and improves with each act.
Since we arrived on the second planet, we noticed the first differentiator of this game and the main bet of its developers: the places we visit are very vast, there is a lot to do and a lot to explore.
It is possible to revisit them after getting the necessary upgrades and this open world bet is definitely one of the most enjoyable things in the game. Exploration is rewarding, and hidden behind dozens of puzzles are many rewards that will make our life in the galaxy easier or just make us look cooler.
One of the introductions in this game are the Jedi chambers, ancient vestiges of the Jedi order where Padawans were trained that are very similar to the sanctuaries of the sages in The Legend of Zelda: BOW, where after solving a puzzle you can access an improvement for your character.
In general, the design of the levels and the platforming are quite well executed, the movement between the different sections of the levels and the abilities that the game puts at our disposal are well thought out to give the necessary variety to a platform game, in addition to In the visual section, the game is spectacular, the settings and environments are beautifully designed, which from the first moment invite you to be explored.
In combat, just like in the previous installment, we can feel like a Jedi using the force to push, attract or even levitate our enemies. As for the Jedi weapon par excellence and tradition, the lightsaber, the game offers us several positions for handling the weapon, the traditional one-handed saber, two sabers, a double saber like Darth Maul’s, and also adds a heavy sword style stance with a saber like Kylo Ren’s.
Each position grants different advantages and disadvantages in combat and must be equipped strategically since we can only equip two of these positions. In general, the combat is entertaining and sometimes challenging, especially on higher difficulties, although it can get a bit repetitive at times and may lack a bit of variety, although it is not a problem or something that makes the game less.
Among the bad, Jedi Survivor, despite being a visually spectacular title and having a fairly rich Star Wars plot, is not exempt from technical flaws that, while they don’t spoil the experience, make it less pleasant. Textures that do not load or that load very slowly, crashes due to memory saturation, frames that drop in moments of more action are constant situations in the game, which we hope Respawn can solve soon so as not to overshadow this great installment.
In general, the title is a great sequel to its predecessor, it improves in all aspects, it is extensive and has many things and activities to do, it promises hours of entertainment and exploration but above all it marks a path towards a 100% world game. open Star Wars type TLOZ: BoW, a dream that seems to be getting closer and that every Star Wars fan would like to see.
