From February 28 to March 3, at the Spanish Cooperation Training Center in Montevideo, the “Training course on the rights of older adults in Latin America” was held; Within this experience, our researcher Mónica Carrasco, part of the FLACSO Aging and Care Area research team, carried out the Module “Right to participation of the elderly”.
Communications Flacso Chile.- The objective of the training was to train personnel from public institutions responsible for policies aimed at older adults in countries in addressing aging and old age policies from a human rights perspective.
Likewise, it seeks to promote the exchange of experiences between public institutions responsible for policies for the elderly and networking, through the training of personnel from public institutions responsible for policies towards the elderly in order to improve the quality of public policies. , analyzing the effects of the crisis derived from COVID-19 in the older adult population of the region and making recommendations on how to improve public policies.
The activity was carried out by the Ibero-American Social Security Organization (OISS), the Ibero-American Cooperation Program on the Situation of the Elderly and the National Institute for the Elderly of Uruguay (Inmayores).
