Rescue services have confirmed the discovery of the last body that remained to be found after the collapse of the glacier that buried eleven mountaineers last week in northern Italy, Italian media report.
An avalanche of ice, snow and debris buried several climbers on the Marmolada mountain last Sunday. They are six men and three women of Italian nationality, the last of whom was found this Saturday, and two Czech men. Eight other people were injured.
The mayor of Canazei, the nearest town, has declared this Saturday a day of mourning, with a moment of silence, along with a service in the local church.
Maurizio Fugatti, president of the Trentino-South Tyrol region, has assured that rescue teams will continue their work to search for personal effects.
