Republicans criticize the White House and approve a tough immigration bill

The US House of Representatives, with a Republican majority, approved, a few hours after the end of title 42, a bill to extend the wall on the border with Mexico and impose new restrictions on asylum seekers, thus creating a line opposition tough on President Joe Biden’s policies.

The Democrats defined this project as cruel and made against migrants. The White House, for its part, defends the actions that were taken these days, ensuring that they will work.

Alejandro Mayorkas, Secretary of National Security said: “It will take time, but we are confident that our plan will work. It has worked in the past.”

This immigration bill, which Republicans describe as the most restrictive so far, has virtually no chance of becoming law due to the Democratic majority in the Senate and President Joe Biden’s decision to veto it.

However, Republicans say they acted in the face of the current administration’s inability to secure the southern border.

Kevin McCarthy, Speaker of the House of Representatives, said: “The White House had two years to plan to end Title 42. We all knew the deadline. But the White House produced no plan, missed the deadline, and got into another crisis. Even President Biden, who has only been to the border once in 50 years, says this: There’s going to be chaos for a while.”

The Biden administration has said that new policies, like Title 8, are meant to both crack down on illegal crossings and offer new legal avenues for migrants.
