Republic of Korea and ECLAC renew their 2022-2023 cooperation agreement, with emphasis on economic integration and the Digital Agenda for Latin America and the Caribbean

The government of the Republic of Korea and the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) strengthened their strategic cooperation relationship today by signing an agreement that promotes sustainable development on three crucial issues for the transformative recovery of the countries of our region.

The 2022 cooperation agreement, signed by Kyungtae Hwang, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea in Chile, and José Manuel Salazar-Xirinachs, Executive Secretary of ECLAC, will make it possible to continue supporting regional trade economic integration, with special emphasis on small and medium-sized companies companies through the CORPYME program and the implementation of a second phase of activities to strengthen open electronic government and will also support the development of digitization in Latin America and the Caribbean.

During the meeting held at the Commission’s headquarters in Santiago, Chile, the Executive Secretary of ECLAC expressed to the Ambassador his satisfaction and gratitude for the support that the Republic of Korea has given to the substantive tasks of the organization. Likewise, the Korean diplomatic representative reaffirmed the will of his Government to continue collaborating with ECLAC and strengthen ties even more in the coming years.

The Republic of Korea became a member State of ECLAC on July 23, 2007, and its Prime Minister, Han Duck-soo, gave a keynote speech on October 11, 2022 at ECLAC headquarters.
