The Red Crescent denounced this Monday the use of humanitarian vehicles by Israel to carry out military operations, after Israeli special forces allegedly used this strategy to infiltrate the Nuseirat refugee camp, in the Gaza Strip, where they rescued four hostages in an operation that left 270 dead and more than 700 injured.
“We warn of the danger posed by the use of a humanitarian aid truck as cover for military operations,” the organization said, adding that “these actions occur at a time when people living in Gaza desperately need help.” , amid severe food insecurity and ongoing concerns about famine.”
In this sense, he has indicated that “Israel’s actions are worrying for several reasons”, such as “using a reliable source for people caught in the conflict, which constitutes a violation of International Humanitarian and Customary Law, which prohibits the crime of perfidy”.
“Hiding military forces inside an aid truck is considered a war crime against civilians. The occupation forces deceived people by pretending to be giving aid,” he denounced through his profile on the social network X.
On the other hand, he assured that “the second reason” is that this action “destroys the confidence of the civilian population in those who deliver aid”, which “puts humanitarian aid and health care workers at risk again.”
The Israeli authorities categorically denied this information, initially reported by local sources. For her part, the UN rapporteur for Palestine, Francesa Albanese, pointed out that the rescue forces used “with perfidious intent” false assistance vehicles to infiltrate in what she described as a maneuver of “humanitarian camouflage at another level.”
Albanese accused Israel of using the hostages as an excuse to “legitimize the murder, mutilation and starvation of Palestinians in Gaza” and claimed that “Israel could have secured the release of these hostages during the first ceasefire, eight months ago”.
In this same operation, the use of the provisional pier built by the United States on the coast of Gaza as part of the Israeli operation was denounced, an allegation also denied by the American authorities, who clarified that the hostages, already released, were extracted from the enclave. through this facility, but from “an area to the south” of the structure “and any statement to the contrary is false.”
