Although we are used to spiders weaving their webs in a rounded way when they do not make them irregular, there are also spiders that do not belong to either of these two categories. Their webs are not irregular in shape but they are not circular either. That is the case of spiders like the one in the photo, of the Deinopis spinosa species, which has woven a perfectly rectangular web. The spider web is small because it is portable. The spider can hold it by the edges with four of its limbs and when the distance to a prey is short enough, it lunges at the victim with its web and catches it in it. Spiders of this type were investigated by the team of Jay Stafstrom and Ronald Hoy of Cornell University in the United States in a study published two years ago. (Font: NCYT by Amazings)
