Raquel Sánchez hopes that Congress approves the Housing Law "in October at the latest"

July 13 () –

The Minister of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda, Raquel Sánchez, hopes that Congress will approve the Housing Law, which is in the process of negotiating the amendments, “in the coming months, in September, October at the latest”.

“We must be positive, because we will be able to pass this Housing Law,” Sánchez said this Wednesday in an interview with Radiocable collected by Europa Press.

The minister recalled that, within this regulation, the limitation of rental income is “specifically” regulated, a measure with which the Government hopes to facilitate access to housing, especially among young people and the most vulnerable groups.

The Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda (Mitma) intends with these policies “to respond to a basic need of citizens, which is to access decent, affordable and adequate housing.” Along these lines, the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, announced this Tuesday, during the Debate on the State of the Nation, the release of ‘Operation Camp’ for the construction of 12,000 homes in the south of Madrid.

The head of the Mitma explained this Wednesday that the promotion of this project has been possible thanks “to an agreement with the Ministry of Defense”, after more than 30 years of blockade, for which the Popular Party has been held responsible. Of those 12,000 homes of the ‘Operation Camp’, 60% will be public protected housing and 40% free housing.

“It is one more measure within all these that we are adopting so that citizens, young people in this case, can start their life project and ensure that families do not experience access to housing as a real drama, as a burden that cannot be allowed”, added the minister.

EFFECTIVE MEASURES

Raquel Sánchez has also responded to criticism of the measures announced on Tuesday by the Prime Minister, and has defended that all those adopted so far “have a clear objective” and have been “effective”.

The minister has referred to the “Iberian exception”, which allowed the electricity bill to be lowered “by around 15%”, and has ensured that these decisions are made “thinking about the impact they can have and controlling how the market reacts” to prevent “that the impact of taxes like these ultimately falls on the users’ pockets”.

Sánchez has wanted to convey “a message of calm” to citizens and has guaranteed that this Government proves its words “with deeds” and has the “clear objective” of “protecting the middle and working classes.” “We are going to go all out to defend the interests of the social majority,” she stressed.

FREE COMMUTER

The minister has also referred to another of the measures announced by the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, such as free commuter, rodalí and medium-distance trips by Renfe, whose objective she has defended is “to help families and companies to make it easier for them to reach the end of the month”.

“This is a historic measure, which demonstrates the progressive character of the Government and which will mean significant savings for domestic economies in these difficult times”, added the head of the Ministry of Transport.

In addition to helping to combat inflation, Raquel Sánchez has pointed out that this measure will encourage the use of the railway, which is the most sustainable means of transport, so it will also contribute to one of the main objectives of the Government, which is to reduce pollution. changing the private vehicle for public transport.
