Raquel Sánchez denies "categorically" that there will be tolls in 2024 and denies their implementation

BARCELONA, July 14 () –

The Minister for Transport, Mobility and the Urban Agenda, Raquel Sánchez, has “categorically” denied that there will be new tolls on Spanish motorways in 2024 and has denied that the Government is considering the implementation of payment for the use of these roads.

He said it this Friday in statements to the press after the institutional visit he made to the Montcada i Reixac City Council (Barcelona), in response to the statement this Thursday by the director of the Directorate General for Traffic (DGT), Pere Navarro, that He assured that it should be so by imposition of the European Union.

Sánchez has denied Navarro and has assured that “he did not have the information and reported on issues that are not within his competence.” The minister recalled that the Government eliminated the provision of establishing payment for the use of high-capacity roads from the future Law on Sustainable Mobility.

He has pointed out that this measure must have the consensus of the political parties, the territorial administrations and the transport sector as a whole, and has stressed that “it makes no sense to propose a measure like this”.
