Raisi begins his first tour of Latin America to promote the “independence” of the region from the US

June 12 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The president of Iran, Ebrahim Raisi, has embarked on Monday for Caracas, the capital of Venezuela, at the start of his first tour of Latin America, which will also take him to Nicaragua and Cuba, three “friendly” countries with which Tehran hopes increase their bilateral cooperation on different fronts.

“The common position of Iran and Venezuela, Nicaragua and Cuba is to oppose the system of domination and confront unitarism,” Raisi indicated before his departure, stating that the countries of the Latin American region seek to live with “freedom, independence and resistance”, the Iranian Presidency stated in a statement.

Raisi has assured that Iran maintains “friendly political, economic and commercial relations” with the three nations. “These countries and of course neighbors and other friends, as well as those aligned with Iran, have always expressed interest in taking advantage of our capabilities in the field of technology and engineering,” she added.

Raisi plans to land in Caracas, where he will meet with his Venezuelan counterpart, Nicolás Maduro, as well as other senior officials from his Executive and the National Assembly, as reported by the Presidency in another statement.

The Iranian president will be accompanied by a high-level delegation, whose members have not yet been revealed, with the aim of signing various cooperation agreements with the authorities of Venezuela, Nicaragua and Cuba.
