Heavy rainfall in South Korea forced the evacuation of some 1,570 people and left thousands of homes without power in recent days.
Two days of torrential rains in South Korea caused the death of at least seven people and the disappearance of two others due to landslides and floods, the government reported on Saturday. In addition, eight people were trapped after the landslides occurred in central areas early in the day.
South Korea has been hit by heavy rain since July 9. According to the ministry’s report, the rainfall forced the evacuation of some 1,570 people and left thousands of homes without electricity in recent days. According to the South Korean meteorological agency, some areas of the country will continue to receive torrential rains until Sunday.
