arm is located in legal disputes with Qualcomm for their licenses issued to Nuvia and which was later bought by Qualcomm. According to the Delaware jury the verdict has been beneficial for Qualcommalthough it has not been entirely clear as to whether Nuvia has finally violated the contract with Arm by sharing the licenses that the company owned, at least in terms of development of processors for Servers. Arm seems to be dissatisfied and will request a new trial to clarify this doubt.
Qualcomm took over Nuvia in 2021and took advantage of its cores Orion for the creation of the current Snapdragon X Series for Windows laptops. A technology that Arm demanded to negotiate again with Qualcommsince Arm claimed that could not transfer Nuvia licenses having to renegotiate this agreement. However, Gerard Williams III (designer of the Oryon cores) stated that the final design of these processors contained less than 1% of Arm’s technology.
With this statement it seems that Qualcomm complies with its architecture licensewhich also includes the design of its subsidiaries. Qualcomm already pays Arm over $300 million achieving the latter with this single client 10% of your income. But it seems that Arm is not satisfied and will try to fight this dispute, at least the part that has not been very clear.
