Qualcomm and Sony reach an agreement to integrate Snapdragon in the next generations of smartphones



Qualcomm and Sony have signed a collaboration agreement whereby both companies will work together for the development of new smartphones focusing on the integration of Snapdragon platforms in the future lines of terminals of the Japanese company.

Currently, Sony already uses Qualcomm SoCs in their terminals as the Sony Xperia 1V with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2but after this agreement its presence in future lines of smartphones of the company is guaranteed.

Specific, Sony and Qualcomm will work together on the next generations of smartphones range premium, but also in the upper-middle and mid-range, which means that we will see Snapdragon SoCs in Sony terminals for several years, possibly exclusively. However, the companies have not specified the duration of the agreement.

The agreement is global and will take into account smartphones launched both in Japan and internationally around the world.

We will be attentive to see what comes of this collaboration and if Sony manages to come back and be able to reach the top sales positions in the competitive mobile market again. It should not be forgotten that before the advent of smartphones, Sony-Ericsson was one of the best-known brands in the sector.
