The Government of Qatar has announced this Saturday the beginning, as of this Sunday, of the direct economic aid plan promised to 100,000 Palestinian families in the Gaza Strip to alleviate the effects of the economic crisis that the residents of the enclave are going through after years of Israeli blockade.
The State of Qatar disburses monthly what it describes as “humanitarian grants” in support of “sister Palestinian families in the Gaza Strip”, as recalled by the Qatari Foreign Ministry in the announcement, published through its Twitter account.
For example, it should be remembered that Qatar signed an agreement with the Gaza energy sector authorities in January to consolidate gas and electricity supplies from the Arab emirate to the Nuseirat power plant, in the center of the Palestinian enclave and the only one in operation.
The amount of this latest direct aid package amounts to approximately 10 million euros. Each beneficiary family, according to the plan, an approximate amount of 100 euros.
The plan is developed in cooperation with the Qatar Fund for Development, and is overseen by the chairman of the Gaza Reconstruction Committee, Mohamed Al Emadi. The distribution process will be carried out through the United Nations and the more than 300 aid delivery centers distributed in the Gaza Strip.
