Russian President Vladimir Putin warned South Korea on Thursday that supplying lethal weapons to the Ukrainian Armed Forces would be “a serious mistake” and threatened that Moscow could take measures in response.
“As for the supply of lethal weapons to the combat zone in Ukraine, it would be a serious mistake. I hope it does not happen, then we would make appropriate decisions that probably will not please the current leaders of South Korea,” he said.
Putin has offered statements to the media from Hanoi, where he is on a state visit after a previous trip to North Korea, with whose authorities he signed a strategic partnership agreement, according to the Russian news agency TASS.
Regarding the supply of Western weapons to Ukraine, Putin has stressed that these are actions “close” to an act of aggression against Russia, and has pointed out that, apparently, “those who supply these weapons believe that they are not at war” with Moscow. .
Likewise, the Russian president has stressed that North Korea has indeed provided support to Russia, but has clarified that these supplies are humanitarian assistance material and also non-lethal military items.
