14 Apr. (EUROPE PRESS) –
The Russian president, Vladimir Putin, has signed this Friday a legislation previously approved by the Duma that contemplates sanctions and punishments if a citizen evades the military mobilization, such as the prohibition to leave Russia.
The law, published this Friday on the Russian legal information portal, aims to correct the failures and deficiencies that occurred when Putin announced a “partial mobilization” to recruit up to 300,000 people in the framework of the war in Ukraine. At that time, many people fled the country to avoid being mobilized.
The already approved legislation will prevent those who are of age to be mobilized from leaving Russia, as well as obtaining loans or registering real estate, among other things, in the event that they do not respond to the summons. It also promotes the creation of an electronic registry to facilitate the process, as reported by the TASS news agency.
The text includes the citizen’s obligation to report their decision to be mobilized at a military police station or through the State Services portal. Likewise, if the summons is not sent, it will be the responsibility of the person to notify the competent body. If you don’t, he will receive a notice about travel restrictions.
Before the approval of the measure, the Kremlin spokesman, Dimitri Peskov, clarified on Tuesday in statements to the press that at the moment “there are no plans” to call a second wave of military mobilization in Russia in the framework of the war in Ukraine. .
