China considers that the relationship with Russia is better than during the Cold War
16 Apr. (EUROPE PRESS) –
Russian President Vladimir Putin received Chinese Defense Minister Li Shangfu in the Kremlin this Sunday, in yet another gesture that highlights the harmony between Russia and China in military matters.
The Kremlin spokesman, Dimitri Peskov, has reported the meeting between Putin and Li, who arrived in Russia this Sunday, where he will remain until next Tuesday, which is his first trip abroad since his appointment.
Putin has stressed that the military cooperation between the two countries reinforces the “strategic” relations between the two countries and has stressed that Russia and China are exchanging information through their defense ministries.
The Russian president has indicated that cooperative relations are “successful and diverse.” “I think it’s obviously another important area that reinforces the uniquely trusting and strategic nature of our relationships,” he said.
Putin recalled the recent visit of Chinese President Xi Jinping, who traveled to Moscow in March, and that both discussed the issue of military cooperation. In line, he has pointed out that Defense Minister Li “has a fairly large and good work schedule” for his trip.
“We are delighted to see you. I am sure that your visit will have the highest level. Welcome to Russia!” Putin snapped at Li Shangfu during an act in which the Russian Defense Minister, Sergei Shoigu, was also present.
BETTER RELATIONSHIP THAN DURING THE COLD WAR
For his part, Li stressed that the bilateral relationship is above the one China had with the Soviet Union at the time of the Cold War and stressed that this relationship “is not directed against a third country.”
“We work hand in hand to improve the well-being of our peoples”, he stressed. In addition, Li has explained that Putin and Xi are “connected by friendship and everyone in China knows it.”
Li’s trip to Russia is the first overseas trip since his appointment on March 12, “reflecting the aspirations of the two countries to deepen their mutual military trust and enrich the strategic connotations of their comprehensive strategic partnership,” it said. featured the official Chinese daily ‘Global Times’.
