Putin and Vucic celebrate Russian-Serbian relations in commemoration of the liberation of Belgrade

The Russian president, Vladimir Putin, and the Serbian president, Aleksandar Vucic, celebrated this Sunday in a telephone conversation the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Belgrade from Nazism and took the opportunity to applaud the good state of relations between both countries.

“Serbia will not forget the brotherly hand of the Russians in liberating the Nazis,” Vucic said during his conversation with Putin, who described the event as “of great importance not only for Serbia and Russia, but also for all of Europe.”

Vucic also “thanked Vladimir Putin for the principled position that Russia takes on issues of guaranteeing Serbia’s territorial integrity,” according to the Kremlin statement, referring to the situation with Kosovo.

Finally, “both parties expressed their satisfaction with the level of bilateral relations, based on the spiritual, cultural and historical community” between both countries.
