Russian President Vladimir Putin and Iran’s new president, Mashud Pezeshkian, will meet during the BRICS summit in Kazan in October, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed in statements reported by Russian media.
“The Iranian side has already received a valid invitation, and we expect the new president to come to the summit. We will be glad to see him. President Putin is preparing for the next contact,” he said, according to TASS news agency.
Kazan will host a meeting of leaders of the group initially made up of Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa, which was joined earlier this year by Iran, the United Arab Emirates, Egypt, Ethiopia and Saudi Arabia, on 26-27 October.
